Dr. Dave Kalinich  currently serves a professor in the School of Criminology/Criminal Justice. He teaches a variety of graduate and undergraduate courses. His specialty areas included adult corrections, criminal justice management, and ethics. Dr. Kalinich joined the FAU community in January of 2002 as Chair of the Department, and later held the position of Associate Dean for the College of Architecture, Public and Urban Affairs (now called the College of Design and Social Inquiry). Dr. Kalinich received his Doctorate Degree in Social Sciences (economics, political science, & criminal justice) from Michigan State University in 1977.  His undergraduate studies are in the areas of economics and human relations. Dr. Kalinich served on the criminal justice faculty at Michigan State University for 18 years, as Criminal Justice Department Chair at Northern Michigan University for 6 years. He also served as the criminal justice graduate school coordinator at Grand Valley State University, Grand Rapids, Michigan for 3 years before accepting the position at FAU. Dr. Kalinich has published a number of books and articles in the field and has an extensive background in training for criminal justice agencies and professionals. He also worked as an adult parole officer for a ten-year period for the State of Ohio prior to his academic career.
